In vSphere 4.1 and up when enabling SSH access to the ESXi host (or “remote tech support mode” as it was called) an annoying alert was displayed in your viclient, conveniently you only had to restart the management services to remove it.
Unfortunately for vSphere 5 VMware has made the alert a little more pesky, infact no matter how many management agent restarts you carry out it just won’t go away!
Fortunately you can still remove it by simply following the steps below (stolen straight from this KB article):
- Select the ESXi host from the Inventory.
- Select Advanced Settings from the Software menu.
- Navigate to UserVars > UserVars.SuppressShellWarning.
- Set the value from 0 to 1.
- Click OK.
